A musical instrument manufacturer originally founded in 1873 by Anastasios Stathopoulos. The company was bought out by Gibson Corp. in the late 1950's.
They are currently most famous for their line of guitars that are positioned as more affordable versions of popular Gibson models, as well as their original semi-hollow bodied and acoustic guitars. They also make amplifiers and other musical instrument accessories.
As of 2009, Epiphone has begun using Nickel hardware on their guitars, as opposed to Chrome which was previously used.
