More Info
The serial numbers used on 1970s Matsumoku built Epiphones are largely unreliable and cannot determine when a particular guitar was built.
The sticker found inside of the EA-250 reads as follows:
"Style_____________
Epiphone__________
No._______________
guarantee void if number is defaced
EPIPHONE, inc. Kalamazoo, Michigan
Made in Japan"
Most commonly, "EA-250" (or "5102TE" as the case may be) was ink stamped next to either "Style" or "Epiphone", with "Riviera" next to "Epiphone" if applicable. Some guitars had their serial number stamped next to "No.", but many did not.
