Variations

The only Epiphone Flying V currently being sold is the Korina model. However, several other versions have gone into production in the past.


1958 Flying V

The Epiphone 1958 Flying V features:

- Gold hardware

- Alder/Korina body

- Set Mahogany neck

- Rosewood fingerboard with "dot" inlays

- Colors available: Ebony and Korina.


1967 Flying V

The Epiphone 1967 Flying V features:


- Open-coil Alnico Classic humbuckers

- Chrome hardware

- Alder body

- Set Mahogany neck

- Rosewood fingerboard with "dot" inlays

- Colors available: Antique White and Ebony.


Goth '58 Flying V

The Epiphone Goth 1958 Flying V features:


- Two Open Coil Alnico Classic humbuckers

- Black hardware

- Philippine/Indonesian Mahogany body

- Rosewood fingerboard with an "XII" inlay at the 12th fret

- Colors available: Satin Black.


Flying V (1985)

The Epiphone Flying V (1985) features:


- Two open-coil humbuckers

- Black hardware (Ebony finish)/ Chrome hardware (White finish)

- Tremolo tailpiece

- Offset "V" shape

- Body color "pointed hockeystick" headstock

- Rosewood fingerboard with "dot" inlays

- Colors available: Ebony and White.

- Rosewood fingerboard with "dot" inlays

- Colors available: Black, White and Metallic Red.


Flying V (1989)

The Epiphone Flying V (1989) features:


- Two Samick Vantage humbuckers

- Black hardware

- Locking nut

- Epiphone Bennder fine tune tremolo

- Hardwood body

- Set Maple neck

- Rosewood fingerboard with "offset dot" inlays

- 24.75" scale

- E-600UL strings

- Colors available: Magenta, Ebony and Pearl White.


Woods

The Epiphone Korina 1958 Flying V consists of an Alder body with Korina veneers on the front and back sides, unlike it's Gibson counterpart, which is solid Korina. The neck is made of Industrial Mahogany, unlike the Gibson's, which is also solid Korina. The fretboard is Rosewood.
