Product Lines

The Epiphone E-Series product lines were as follows: the Hard Body Series, the Polyester Series, the Nuclear Collection, and the USA Collection.

Hard Body Series

"The "Hard Body" E-Series Collection features an Epiphone "first" - a string-through body design. With the strings anchored through the body of the guitar, from the bottom, this new design allows for maximum sustain, resulting in a guitar that just sings.

The three guitars in the "Hard Body" series feature aggressive new body shapes based on classic guitar designs. They include the Demon, which is based on a modified Flying V (offset); The Beast, based on a modified Explorer; and the Slasher, which is a modified Firebird.

Each guitar features a bolt-on neck with a super slide satin finish for extremely fast action, new "E-Series" Ultra Hot covered humbucker pick-ups with the E-logo, on-board effects with surface mount electronics, and each is available in 3 metallic colors." - Epiphone, 2001

USA Collection

"The limited edition "USA Collection" features four guitars designed by celebrated instrument designer Kurt Hendrick who has made guitars for rock's elite. He was commissioned by Epiphone to create an extreme line of guitars, the 'USA Collection'.

Each of the four guitars - Moderne, Comet, Apollo and Futura - play off famous Gibson shapes, but with Kurt's skilled hand and imagination, these guitars are taken to the extreme. The Moderne offers the classic body shape; the Comet is Kurt's own Modern-influenced design; the Apollo features an altered Flying V shape, and the Futura is a classic Gibson body shape which was invented in 1957, along with the original Flying V and Moderne (It became the Explorer years later).

One of the most profound features of the "USA Collection" is that the pickguards are recessed into the guitars' bodies. This affords a completely flat top and makes the pickguard an integral part of the guitar.

The collection also features nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, bound tops, and select grade Indian Rosewood fingerboards. Assembled in the USA." - Epiphone, 2001
