Positioned as a step up from the Les Paul Standard, the Les Paul Custom is differentiated from the Les Paul Standard by it's gold hardware, triple bound body and headstock, split diamond headstock inlay, and "block" fretboard inlays.
Variations
The Epiphone Les Paul Custom is offered in three basic variations: Les Paul Custom, Les Paul Custom Plus, and Les Paul Black Beauty 3. Other variations have been produced as limited editions, such as the Les Paul Classic Custom Antique.
Les Paul Custom
The Epiphone Les Paul Custom features:

- Three-ply bound headstock with "split diamond" inlay
- Rosewood fingerboard with "block" inlays

Les Paul Custom Plus
The Epiphone Les Paul Custom Plus features:
- Two Alnico Classic humbuckers
- Gold hardware
- Mahogany body with grade AA flamed Maple veneer
- Set Mahogany neck
- Rosewood fingerboard with "block" inlays
- Colors available: Heritage Cherry Sunburst and Vintage Sunburst.
Les Paul Black Beauty 3
The Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3 features:
- Three Alnico Classic humbuckers
- Gold hardware
- Mahogany body
- Set Mahogany neck
- Rosewood fingerboard with "block" inlays
- Colors available: Ebony.
Prophecy Les Paul Custom
The Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom features:
- EMG 81/85 humbuckers or Gibson USA "Dirty Fingers" humbuckers with coil tap
