The Epiphone Epi-Series electric guitar began production in 1995 as an entry level line in the Epiphone range of guitars and basses.

The Epiphone Epi-Series was re-introduced in 1995 as an entry level line in the Epiphone range of guitars and basses. These guitars were produced in China and Indonesia and while some models only lasted for about one year, other models were produced until approximately 2001. The Epi line consisted of acoustic, archtop, solid body electric and bass guitar models as well as Epi guitar and bass practice amplifiers.

"The Epiphone Company of Nashville, TN USA proudly introduces a new line of entry level instruments called 'Epi'. Designed by professionals, these new instruments offer the beginning guitar player the spirit of Epiphone at a very affordable price".

- Epiphone 1995

The original Epi line was a sub-budget line of acoustic flat-tops that appeared from 1979-1980. These guitars were made by the Marina company in Taiwan, in the city of Chaunyin. The Epi line of instruments was offered as a "student guitar" and consisted of two folk-body models, two classical models and four dreadnought models, as well as an entry-level banjo. The Epi line was discontinued by 1980.
