The Zephyr Hawaiian Lap Steel Guitar was part of the Zephyr range of instruments including the Zephyr Banjo, Zephyr Mandolin, Zephyr Archtop Guitar and Zephyr Amplifier. This line of instruments was available in "complete outfits" or "starter packs" as we know them today. These outfits typically included the instrument, case, amplifier and a cord. Zephyr amplifers were available in AC or AC-DC models. The Zephyr Hawaiian Lap Steel Guitar was available in 6, 7 and 8-string configuations.

Like its guitar counterpart, the Zephyr Lap Steel Guitar was outfitted with an Epiphone Master pickup and a Mastervoicer control. It also sported the metal "Bikini" logo plate, as did the rest of the Zephyr series at the time. The "Electar" name was given to most of Epiphone's lap steel guitars throughout the 1930s and 1940s.

The Electar Zephyr 6-string lap steel retailed for $90.00 in 1939 and the 8-string version for $110. A 6-string AC outfit retailed for $179, while the AC-DC outfit cost $194. The non-outfit Electar Zephyr also came with a form-fitted case for an extra $15.00 and a waterproof zipper cover for an additional $10.50 in 1939.
