EM-Series
Introduced in 1991, the EM-Series consisted of two solid-body guitars featuring their patented "Swept C" cutout design and recessed neck pocket. The Gibson counterpart to the EM-1 & 2 was the Mark-II, III & IV. Epiphone also produced a bass version with the EBM-4 & 5, as well as a six-sting version with a neck-tru design and solid ash body called the Expert-6. Gibson never produced a bass version of the Mark Series. The original Epiphone EM-Series was discontinued in 1998. In 2008, the EM-2 was reissued in the Prophecy line of guitars along side the Les Paul, SG and Futura, including features such as highly figured quilt Maple tops, 24-fret SpeedTaper satin necks with binding, jumbo frets, unique "blade" inlays, graphite nut, Made-in-USA pickups, Epiphone's new, patent-applied-for Straplocks, hand-stained colors and eye-catching Pearl knobs. The EM-1 was also reissued, but as an entry-level guitar with basic features and was discontinued in 2010. |
