Epiphone is taking it to the 'E' with new designs, rocket-charged classics

Just in time for Spring 2001, music instrument maker Epiphone has unveiled a new highly fashion-oriented line, offering high performance, high energy instruments with unique body shapes, super-fast necks, cool finishes, and superbly bad attitude on Epiphone's new site at www.epiphone.com.

Called the "E Series" this exciting new line draws from Epiphone and Gibson's rich heritage, combining the best of classic instruments with brand new designs exclusive to Epiphone.

Within the new "E Series" are five new product lines--the Hard Body Series, the Polyester Series, the Nuclear Collection, the USA Collection, and the Galaxy Amp Collection. Each offers new instruments with exciting new colors and designs that match perfectly with today's more aggressive playing style.

USA Collection

The USA Collection features four guitars designed by celebrated instrument designer Kurt Hendrick who has made guitars for rock's elite. He was commissioned by Epiphone to create an extreme line of guitars, the USA Collection.

Each of the four guitars -- Moderne, Comet, Apollo and Futura -- play off famous Gibson shapes, but with Kurt's skilled hand and imagination, these guitars are taken to the extreme. The Moderne offers the classic body shape; the Comet is Kurt's own Modern-influenced design; the Apollo features an altered Flying V shape, and the Futura is a classic Gibson body shape which was invented in 1957, along with the original Flying V and Moderne (It became the Explorer years later). One of the most profound features of the USA Collection is that the pickguards are recessed into the guitar's body. This affords a completely flat top and makes pickguard an integral part of the guitar.

The USA collection is rumoured to have never gone into actual production.
